Education
San Marin High School
Background
Hey! I'm Ted, an incoming senior at San Marin High School. I'm in the biotechnology academy at my school, but before that, I was taught to appreciate the wonder of life by my fourth grade teacher, Mr. Rich. He would walk our class over to Lake Merced in San Francisco every Friday, where we would stand among the swaying eucalyptus trees and identify various birds by their songs. He led us to the lake shore, where he pointed out different types of grasses and reeds that the Ohlone, an indigenous tribe would use to build their boats. He organized hikes outside of school so that we could leave the hustle and bustle of San Francisco and escape to the great outdoors. He impressed upon me the intricate beauty of natural life, and imparted so much reverence to it. Years later, I pursued my interest in biological sciences in high school. I'm exhilarated to be interning at the Whiteman lab.
Outside of academics, I am a dedicated cellist. I'm privileged to serve as the principal player of the Marin Youth Symphony, and it has been an extremely rewarding experience filled with growth. I enjoy baking, and recently I've been trying to pull off artisanal sourdough. I also recently fell in love with playing tennis, and I've been avidly playing as often as I can.
