EDUCATION
University of California, Berkeley
Ph.D. candidate in Integrative Biology with a Designated Emphasis in Computational Biology (2017-present)
University of California, Davis
B.S. in Evolution, Ecology, & Biodiversity (2011-2013)
Solano Community College
A.S. in Industrial Biotechnology (2015),
A.S. in University Studies (2011)
AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS
Genetic Dissection of Cells and Organisms Training Program Appointee
NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Chancellor's Fellowship
PUBLICATIONS
Ian Pearse, Jessica Aguilar, John Schroder, Sharon Strauss. Macroevolutionary constraints to tolerance: trade-offs with drought tolerance and phenology, but not resistance. Ecology. August 2017.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
I am broadly interested in understanding the interactions between insect herbivores and their host plants. I am studying the ways variation in host use (through host switching) contributes to diversification of insects. My research approach aims to integrate across disciplines including Ecology, Evolution, Genetics, and Computational Biology.
RELEVANT EMPLOYMENT
University of California, Davis
Junior Specialist
Strauss Lab (2015-2017)
Yang Lab (2014-2015)
University of California, Davis; Rocky Mountain Biological Lab
Research Assistant
Stanton Lab, Supervisor: Anne Marie Panetta (2013-2014)
